Author Agreement
Terms governing manuscript submission, publishing services, author responsibilities and publication.
1. Agreement Overview
This Author Agreement sets out the general terms under which an author may engage Asha Publication for publishing-related services.
A specific publishing arrangement, quotation, invoice, work order or separately signed agreement may contain additional terms applicable to a particular publication.
2. Author Information
The author agrees to provide accurate information necessary for publication, including author name, contact details, manuscript information and other requested publication details.
3. Author's Rights and Ownership
Unless a separate written agreement states otherwise, the author retains ownership of the copyright and other rights in the original work owned by the author.
The author is responsible for ensuring that they have the legal right to submit the manuscript and authorize the publishing services requested from Asha Publication.
4. Originality and Third-Party Material
The author represents that the submitted manuscript is their original work or that they have obtained all necessary permissions for material belonging to third parties.
This may include text, photographs, illustrations, artwork, tables, quotations, trademarks or other protected material.
5. Author Responsibility
The author is responsible for:
- The accuracy of factual information contained in the manuscript.
- Obtaining permissions where required.
- Providing final author and manuscript information.
- Reviewing proofs supplied for approval.
- Confirming the final title, author name and other publication details.
- Ensuring that the submitted material does not unlawfully infringe another person's rights.
6. Publishing Services
Depending on the selected publishing package, services may include editing, formatting, cover design, typesetting, ISBN-related assistance, printing coordination, digital publishing, distribution assistance or other services described in the applicable quotation or service order.
7. Editing and Proof Approval
Where editing or formatting services are included, the author may be provided with proofs or review copies. The author is responsible for reviewing the material and communicating corrections within the agreed review period.
Once final approval has been provided, subsequent changes may require additional work or charges depending on the stage of production.
8. ISBN and Metadata
Where ISBN or publication metadata services are included, the author agrees to provide accurate information required for registration, cataloguing or distribution.
An ISBN does not itself determine ownership of copyright or guarantee commercial success.
9. Pricing and Payments
Publishing charges, service fees, printing costs and other applicable charges will be communicated to the author through the relevant quotation, invoice or service agreement.
Work may be dependent on receipt of the required payment or advance payment where specified in the applicable agreement.
10. Publication Schedule
Estimated publication timelines may depend on manuscript readiness, editing, author approvals, production, printing, distribution platforms and other factors. Asha Publication does not guarantee a particular publication date unless expressly agreed in writing.
11. Distribution and Sales
Distribution services, where purchased, may involve third-party retailers, marketplaces, distributors, print-on-demand providers or other platforms. Availability, pricing, stock status and sales performance may vary between platforms.
12. Marketing
Marketing or promotional services, if included in a selected package, will be provided according to the agreed scope. Publication does not guarantee reviews, sales, rankings, bestseller status or a particular level of readership.
13. Prohibited or Unlawful Content
Asha Publication may decline or suspend publication of content that it reasonably believes creates legal, regulatory, safety, intellectual property or reputational concerns.
14. Termination
Either party may request termination of a publishing engagement, subject to the applicable service agreement, work already completed, third-party commitments and any applicable refund or cancellation provisions.
15. Acceptance
Acceptance of a quotation, service order or separate publishing agreement may constitute acceptance of the applicable terms described in that document.
